Heroic Newbie 1, Shari speaking

okay. here goes...
I am in a dark dungeon. I am eating a rat. A mad scientist is about to take over the world, and I am, for once, powerless to stop it.

Joker boy, Sam is desperately trying to laser eye his way out of the chains. Softie Abby is praying (in mid air, at that). Her brother, baby Matthew is crying his little heart out. (Well, big heart. He was ten feet tall at the moment).Team leader, John, is quietly muttering plans. (most of them involved out smarting three supercomputers, which, believe it or not, he could do). And I, Shari the newbie, figure, what the heck, we're be down here for a good decade, so I may as well write about how we got here.
But if I'm going to tell this right, I should back up.

I looked in the mirror. I guess I'm a normal looking girl. Green eyes, Long, strait brow hair, a little on the chubby side, but not to bad and-
okay, we all know I can do better. I mean, I came in with this great piece about being trapped in a dungeon, then suddenly, I launch into a boring bit about how I look. Any reader would be thinking 'who cares what she looks like? I want to know how she got in that dungeon!' well, I'll just have to start over.

I was falling. I knew it wasn't real, but it still chilled me to the bone. I fell. And then I flew. I wasn't flying on my own power. I knew that. The power felt stolen, somehow. I rose up. I felt so powerful. So great. But the world hatted me.
 And then I woke up.
Okay, really? I must have lost my touch. A dream sequence? Right in the beginning? Everyone does dream sequences. Its just cliche. Besides, I haven't had that dream since I was six. It might not even mean any thing. Admit it, self. You have no idea where to start.
Wait.. No idea. No idea! that's it! the test! Eureka!

Geography
Question 1. what is the capital of Egypt?
Question 2. name three countries in the UK.
Question 3. describe how the compass rose is useful.

biology
question 1. name five types of cells in the human body.
Question 2. describe the path of blood through the body.
Question 3. How dose energy travel through a ecosystem?

The first two were easy. But as the test progressed into Math, History, and astrology, I knew less and less. By the last section, physics, I didn't know the answers to any of the questions. I knew I had to answer at least 80%, but I doubted I could get even 50%. I decided to do what I aways did when faced with a challenge. I asked permission to get a drink of water. The teacher said I may, so I walked down the hall. On my entire journey of 100 feet, I didn't get a single idea. I opened the door. Robberts foot came out to trip me. I don't like Robbert, but I must admit, for once, his pranks had a benefit. As I fell, Johns hand reached out to catch me. I had almost never noticed John before. He stayed quiet, with his nose in a book most of the time. But as soon as he touched me, I felt different.
Oh boy. I just made it sound like I love him, didn't I. THIS IS NOT A LOVE NOVEL!!! I better rewrite that last part.
...with his nose in a book most of the time. For an instant, is saw a blue flash.

Immediately, the hand jerked back, as if I had shocked him. when my vision cleared, I saw him sitting on the floor. But it looked like the ceiling. Thoughts of gravity, from Newtens laws to Einsteins time-space. That led my mind to Einsteins many writings.Writings made me think of  'Midsummer night dream' Images of words flashed before my eyes. I realised I was reading the entire works of Shakespeare. Plot, characters, setting. Finally, my mind was telling me something I understood. I am a writer. I told myself.
that is why I am the one writing this.
My thoughts cleared a little. I was shocked with all the thoughts that had ran through my head, just from looking at John up-side down. I wondered how long I had been thinking. Immediately the answer came. That process had taken 3.45 seconds. I finally remembered to look at the boy on the floor. His eyes were wide. He didn't say a word. John looked depressed beyond words. I reached out to comfort him, then I drew back. He had amassing fear on his face, mingling with the depression. I saw that he feared me. So I went back to the test.
I aced it, of course.
you might be thinking at this point 'what was that all about?' I guess I can't tell the whole story. I scoot over to John, who has stopped muttering plans. He seemed to have completely given up. I hope that this story will give him something to do. When I have gotten as close to him as the chains will allow, I call over to him. His head snaps up. I read him what I've got so far. I don't bother to tell him to write. He has already figured it out. John calls to Sam to brighten the light, then starts to tell his side of the story.
