We all know the stories on the women's rights movement. We have seen the poster below. We have heard of the women working during world war two. The women of the world have worked hard for everything we've got.

But I don't think most of the girls of the world appreciate this fact. With their short skirts, barbies, and makeup, they seem to expect to spend their lives doing nothing but looking pretty.
This can start as early as kindergarten. The girls claim that they will be a princess or a ballerina when they grow up. By third grade many are wearing play makeup and falling head over heels for male celebrities (don't even get me started on Justin Bieber. Ugh. )
When middle school comes around, almost everyone is doing everything they can to look like a movie star.
Speaking of movie stars, when did 'role models' for girls get so... girly? The princess are getting better, I must admit; Tiana ended up running her own business, for instance. But from Hannah Montana to Sharpay Evans to Star Magazine, there are still many overly-feminine influences.
What is your opinion on the matter?

  1. There's nothing particularly wrong with liking to look pretty---it's just not the most important thing. Goodness is SOOO much more important than appearance, than being smart, or getting good grades, or being super talented or successful. All of the above things are fine in perspective---but goodness is the most important thing.
